Be Respectful
Be Kind: Treat others (everyone on the session) with kindness and consideration, respecting their ideas and feelings. It is important to listen, take turns to speak and think about noise levels (ear defenders are welcome).
Be friendly: When joining in the session chat, always be nice to others. Bullying and bad language is not allowed in the groups and may mean you can't be part of the group anymore. Sometimes the workers will mute microphones to support everyone in the session.
Be flexible: We understand everyone has other things going on, if you need to, leave early or cannot attend, please try to inform staff.
Stay Safe
Use only your first name on Online (Zoom): Please display only your first name during the sessions, a staff member can help with this.
Keeping yourself safe: Never share personal details like phone numbers, social media accounts, or email address during the online meetings. Private messaging is turned off.
Feedback: Anything you’re not comfortable with, please let staff know, you can say during the session, by directly messaging the workers or ask your parents to contact the workers. The workers will handle the situation appropriately and ensure everyone's well-being.
Sharing information
Your information is kept private: The things you share with us are confidential and won't be shared with others. However, if you share something that may harm you or someone else, we might need to tell the right person. If possible, we'll talk to you about it first. But if we can't reach you, we'll decide who needs to know to keep everyone safe.
Listen to others: If people are sharing personal stories during the online meetings, it’s important you keep these stories to yourself and not share them with anyone outside of the session.
Respect other people’s privacy: Do not take pictures, screenshots, save chats, or record the online sessions. Only Shine Staff can do this, and they will tell you if they are. You can choose not to be recorded.
Chat is saved securely: Remember that anything you write in chat messages during online meetings are saved securely online by Shine.
The following conduct can lead to immediate removal from an online event:
- Angry or vulgar language directed at an individual or individuals, including swearing, name calling or shouting.
- Harassment/intimidating/menacing/offensive behaviour by words, gestures or body language.
- Any other conduct of an inappropriate, threatening, or offensive nature.
- Behaviour or actions which may result in the harm of oneself or another person.
- Taking photos/filming the online session.
- Sharing of personal information during the session.
Shine reserves the right to deny access and/or reconsider the membership of any person who violates this Code of Conduct.
By booking onto and attending the session you confirm that:
- I agree to reading and understanding the Code of Conduct and agree to follow it.
- I agree to follow the leadership of staff involved.
- I accept that not following the Code of Conduct will affect everyone’s experience, including my own and that my behaviour may affect my future participation in the group.
