Since 1966, Shine has supported generations of people and families living with spina bifida, hydrocephalus and normal pressure hydrocephalus. Today, we continue to provide expert information, practical advice and peer support – from diagnosis and through every stage of life.
In 2025-26, Shine supported over 4,900 people to live healthier, happier and more independent lives. Our Impact Report shines a light on the difference our work made.

Early Years and Childhood
As children grow, Shine helps families build confidence and navigate everyday challenges. In 2025-26, we welcomed 255 new members aged 0-12 years old and provided direct support to 1,415 families.
Teenage years
As young people gain independence, we’re there to help them take control of their future. In 2025-26, we provided direct support to 502 young people aged 13-17.
Adults
As our members age, their conditions and circumstances may change, so we continue to offer expert advice and support. In 2025-26, we supported 2,820 of our adult members to get more out of their lives.
