Shine is the UK's specialist charity supporting people living with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), and related conditions.
For over 60 years, we have been helping individuals of all ages and their families navigate the challenges these lifelong neurological conditions can bring, while empowering them to live healthy, independent and fulfilling lives.
We provide expert health information, practical support, advocacy, and opportunities to connect with others who understand the realities of life with these conditions. From supporting parents following a diagnosis during pregnancy, to helping children thrive, young people build confidence, and adults access the services and opportunities they need, Shine is there at every stage of life.
Today, more than 15,000 members living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, NPH, and associated conditions across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are part of our Shine community. Together, along with families, friends, professionals and partners, we share knowledge, experiences, friendship and support, helping to reduce isolation and create positive change. Safeguarding and Complaints
Across all Shine’s services and activities we aim to provide the highest possible quality of service to those individuals or organisations interacting in any way with the organisation. Safeguarding is essential to our work - everyone deserves to feel safe and we're committed to making sure our member are protected.
However, we acknowledge that there may be occasions when things go wrong or you are dissatisfied with us and may wish to complain. We will take complaints seriously and learn from them in order that we can consistently improve the quality of our services and activities.
