The Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most exciting road races in the United Kingdom. It's now one of Europe’s largest half marathons and is Wales’ largest mass participation and multi-charity fundraising event.

The event has grown significantly since it was founded in 2003, when 1,500 runners took part. It now attracts a mass race field of over 27,500 registered runners, alongside world-class athletes.

The predominantly flat, fast course takes in all of the city’s most breathtaking scenery, iconic landmarks and historic buildings, including Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium, Civic Centre and stunning Cardiff Bay.

Thousands of spectators turn out to cheer on the runners in a city renowned for its sporting passion. Cardiff is a lively capital city offering unique attractions, world-class sports stadiums, vibrant entertainment, waterside eateries and seemingly endless parkland.

Charity places

Shine has a limited number of charity places available. Book your spot on the start line today by clicking ‘sign up now’. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so act fast to avoid disappointment.

Do you have your own place?

If you have a general entry place in the race, we would love you to be a part of #TeamShine! With no minimum sponsorship pledge or registration fee, we simply ask you to raise as much as you can to support members and families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Plus, you'll have access to all the great benefits above.

Accessibility

The event organiser, R4W, is committed to being as inclusive as possible and welcomes athletes with health issues, disabilities or accessibility needs, including wheelchair users.

The route is predominantly flat, but wheelchair users should be aware of a steep hill at 12 miles (Fairoak Road) and ramps on the approach to Cardiff Bay (at around mile 6).
