Motability and PIP - how you can have your say

We know the proposed welfare changes and recently-announced changes to the Motability Scheme are causing concern for many. But there are some actions we can take collectively to make a difference and make sure our voices are heard.

Transport for All

Shine has been in contact with Transport for All about joining forces with them and their campaign to make sure our members' voices are heard.  We will give an update as soon as we can. Other actions you can take

If you want to take action directly, there are a few ways that you can feed in your thoughts and objections to the changes:
  1. You can sign this petition, which opposes the changes.  If it reaches 100,000, it will be tabled for discussion   https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/752400
  2. Write to your MP, tell them how the changes will affect you, and ask them to oppose any changes to Motability and PIP in general
  3. Post your comments in this thread / email firstcontact@shinecharity.org.uk and we will put a letter to government with the collective concerns from you
 

Changes to PIP - a government consultation

The government are also consulting on PIP as they are looking at: 
  1. The role and purpose of PIP;
  2. Eligibility, fairness and equity in the award of PIP;
  3. Experience of claiming PIP; and
  4. Changing context and the impact on PIP.
The consultation closes on 28 May 2026.
